Abbreviations

MR = magic ring

ch = chain

sl st = slip stitch

sc = single crochet

hdc = half double crochet

dc = double crochet

tr = treble crochet

inc = 2 stitches in the same stitch

dec = single crochet 2 stitches together

BLO = back loop only

Method

Make the Santa head first. Make the hat, face pieces and beard separately and sew them onto the head. Then crochet the long striped spiral. After the main pieces are complete, make the smaller decorations and attach them with short cords. Keep the mobile balanced by placing similar weight on the left and right sides.

Formation

The finished piece is formed from one stuffed Santa head, one flexible spiral ribbon, several small hanging ornaments and a central line of bells. The spiral should remain open enough to show the red, green and cream stripes clearly.
