What cookies and similar technologies are
Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser. They let a site, or a company whose content appears on the site, recognize your browser when you return. “First-party” cookies are set under our own domain (homirecipes.com). “Third-party” cookies are set under another company’s domain, such as doubleclick.net. Some cookies last only until you close your browser (“session” cookies), while others stay for a set period.
Similar technologies include browser local storage, pixels and scripts that read information from your device. In this policy, “cookies” covers these technologies as well.
How Homirecipes uses cookies
- Strictly necessary: needed to deliver the site securely, for example security cookies set by Cloudflare. These cannot be switched off with our consent tool, but you can block them in your browser.
- Functional: remember the details you enter in the comment form, but only if you choose to save them.
- Consent: store the choices you make in Google’s consent tool.
- Advertising: used by Google and its partners to show ads, limit how often you see the same ad, measure ad performance, detect fraud and, where allowed, personalize ads.
- Third-party features: the Pinterest “Save” button may use Pinterest’s own cookies.
We do not use cookies for our own visitor statistics. Since October 16, 2026, our statistics plugin (WP Visitor Statistics) runs in cookieless mode. Cloudflare Web Analytics also works without cookies.

Cookies we no longer use
Before October 16, 2026, our statistics plugin set _wsm_id.* (13 months), _wsm_ses.* (30 minutes), _wsm_ref.* (6 months) and _wsm_testcookie. The plugin no longer uses these cookies. If your browser still has them from an earlier visit, you can delete them in your browser settings.
Other technologies
- Local storage. Google’s ad scripts may store settings in your browser’s local storage, for example to remember Auto ads settings. The same consent choices apply.
- Pixels and scripts. Ads and ad measurement use small scripts and image requests that send information such as your IP address and browser details to Google and its partners.
- Cloudflare Web Analytics. A small script measures page views and loading performance without cookies.
- Gravatar images. Profile pictures are loaded from Gravatar (Automattic). Your browser therefore connects to Gravatar’s servers when a page shows a profile picture.

Privacy & cookie settings
If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, Google’s consent tool asks for your choices when you first visit. You can review or withdraw your consent at any time with the Privacy & cookie settings link in the footer of every page, which reopens the consent tool. If the consent tool does not apply where you are, that link brings you to this section, and you can use the options below.
Advertising opt-outs
- Turn off personalized ads from Google in My Ad Center.
- Opt out of personalized ads from many participating companies at www.aboutads.info (US) or www.youronlinechoices.eu (Europe).
- If Google’s consent tool shows you a “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link (in some US states), you can use it to opt out of personalized advertising on this site.
Browser settings
Most browsers let you block or delete cookies, including third-party cookies. Check your browser’s help pages for instructions: Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Microsoft Edge. If you block all cookies, some features (such as remembering your comment details) will not work. You will still see ads, but they may be less relevant.
