Autumn Maple Leaf Crochet Table Runnerr

This fall table runner is inspired by three dark brown circular centers surrounded by large maple style leaves in cream and warm brown. The construction is modular and works well for an autumn or Thanksgiving table.

Materials

Use cotton yarn in dark brown warm brown tan and cream.

Use a 3.0 mm to 3.5 mm crochet hook.

You will also need scissors a yarn needle and blocking pins.

Stitch Abbreviations

MR = magic ring

ch = chain

sl st = slip stitch

sc = single crochet

hdc = half double crochet

dc = double crochet

tr = treble crochet

inc = 2 stitches in the same stitch

dec = crochet 2 stitches together

BLO = back loop only

sp = space

rep = repeat

Dark Round Center Make 3

Round 1. With dark brown make MR and work 12 dc in ring.

Round 2. Work 2 dc in each stitch around. You will have 24 stitches.

Round 3. Work 1 dc then inc around. You will have 36 stitches.

Round 4. Work 2 dc then inc around. You will have 48 stitches.

Round 5. Work 3 dc then inc around. You will have 60 stitches.

Round 6. Work 1 round of sc in BLO for a neat raised edge.

Maple Leaf Make 12

Ch 12.

Work 1 sc in second ch then hdc dc tr tr dc hdc sc along the chain.

At the tip ch 3 and sl st in first ch to form a point.

Work down the other side in reverse order.

For side lobes attach yarn near the center vein. Ch 7 then work sc hdc dc tr dc hdc sc back to the base.

Make two side lobes on each side. Make the lower lobes slightly shorter with ch 5.

Finish with a sc round around the leaf and surface sl st along the center vein.

Assembly

Place the three brown circles in a straight line with small gaps.

Between every pair of circles place two cream leaves pointing toward each other.

Place brown leaves on the outside edges of each circle.

Sew the leaf bases to the circles and to neighboring leaves.

Add extra cream leaves at the top and bottom ends for a balanced finish.

Finishing

Weave in all yarn ends carefully.

Lightly wet block the runner and shape every motif while damp.

Pin flowers and leaves so they dry flat and keep their shape.

Let the piece dry completely before placing it on the table.
