This modern runner is inspired by large flat circles in deep red and cream. Small ring motifs flowers and leaves fill the spaces between the main circles.
Materials
Use DK cotton in deep red cream and a small amount of dark red.
Use a 3.0 mm to 3.5 mm crochet hook.
You will also need a yarn needle scissors and blocking pins.

Large Circle Make 6
Round 1. Make MR and work 12 dc.
Round 2. Work 2 dc in each stitch. 24 stitches.
Round 3. Work 1 dc then inc around. 36 stitches.
Round 4. Work 2 dc then inc around. 48 stitches.
Round 5. Work 3 dc then inc around. 60 stitches.
Round 6. Work 4 dc then inc around. 72 stitches.
Round 7. Work 1 round of sc in BLO for a firm edge.
Small Ring Motif Make 12
With dark red make MR and work 12 sc.
Change to cream. Work 2 dc in each stitch around.
Finish with 1 round of sc.
Small Flower Make 5
With cream make MR and work 10 sc.
Change to red. In each second stitch work ch 2 3 dc ch 2 sl st to create 5 petals.
Change back to cream and work 1 sc around the petal edges if desired.
Leaf Make 10 to 12
Ch 10 with cream.
Work sc hdc dc 3 tr dc hdc sc down one side.
Work 3 sc in tip and repeat on second side.
Add a surface sl st center vein.
Assembly
Arrange the large circles in a loose zigzag line alternating red and cream.
Place small rings between the large circles.
Add one flower and two leaves around selected joins.
Sew all pieces together through back loops only so the front stays clean.
Block the complete runner flat.
Finishing
Weave in all yarn ends carefully.
Lightly wet block the runner and shape every motif while damp.
Pin flowers and leaves so they dry flat and keep their shape.
Let the piece dry completely before placing it on the table.
