Pattern Notes
Work amigurumi pieces in continuous rounds unless stated otherwise. Keep the small motifs light so the spiral does not distort. For child-safe decor, embroider facial details and omit loose beads and bells.
Method
The main ribbon is crocheted as a long two-color strip and encouraged to twist naturally by working a generous increase row along one long edge. Small characters are made independently. After blocking, a center suspension cord is attached from the star through the spiral. Motifs are then tied to opposite sides at different heights.
Formation
Top: gold star hanging loop.
Upper third: Santa and a snowflake.
Middle: mini Christmas trees and a small reindeer.
Lower third: snowman, extra snowflakes, red baubles and gold bells.
Keep the ornaments alternating left and right so the finished mobile hangs vertically.
Full Pattern
1. Gold Star Topper
With gold yarn make MR and work 10 sc into the ring. Join with sl st.
For each of 5 points: ch 5, sc in 2nd ch, hdc in next ch, dc in next ch, tr in last ch, skip 1 base st, sl st in next base st.
Repeat the point sequence 5 times around. Fasten off.
Make a second star if you want a double-sided topper. Sew the two stars together around the edge.
Attach a 12 to 15 cm hanging loop to the top point.
2. Red and Cream Candy-Cane Spiral
With red, ch 165. Keep the foundation chain relaxed.
R1: starting in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch across. Turn.
R2: ch 2, work 2 hdc in each st across. The strip will begin to curl strongly. Fasten off red.
Join cream to the starting edge of the strip. Work 1 sc in each visible foundation loop along the long edge.
Next cream row: ch 2, 1 hdc in each st across. Fasten off.
Optional: rejoin red and work a thin surface sl-st line along the cream edge to emphasize the candy-cane look.
Twist the strip into a loose helix about 60 to 70 cm long. Steam lightly from a distance or pin dry to set the turns.

Attach Santa near the upper third, the reindeer around the center, and the snowman slightly below center.
Suspend mini trees, snowflakes, baubles and bells from 6 to 14 cm cords, alternating left and right.
Check balance after every two or three ornaments. Shorten or lengthen cords until the mobile hangs straight
