Method
The project is built in three separate parts: a self-curling crochet spiral, a small stuffed witch hat and a tiny candy-corn charm. The long spiral is made by placing several half double crochets into each foundation chain, which forces the strip into a corkscrew. The hat and charm are sewn to opposite ends after shaping.
Formation / Construction Plan
1. Crochet the orange or purple spiral body.
2. Make the black witch-hat cone and brim, then add the contrasting hat band.
3. Crochet the small candy-corn charm.
4. Add optional black beads or bobbles along the spiral.
5. Join the hat to the top, the candy corn to the bottom and finish with a hanging loop.

Spiral Body – Make 1 per Hanger
6. With orange or purple, ch 72. Keep the starting chain loose so the finished coil can move freely.
7. Starting in the 2nd ch from hook, work 3 hdc in every chain across. The strip should begin curling almost immediately.
8. At the end, FO leaving a 20 cm / 8 in tail. Turn the coil with your fingers so all loops face the same direction.
9. For a fuller spiral, lightly steam from a distance and wind it around a cardboard tube until cool. Do not flatten the curl.
10. Optional black dots: sew 5 small black beads or tiny crocheted bobbles along the front ridge, spacing them about every 2 coils.

32. Place the cone in the center and sew it firmly to the brim. Add a band with orange or purple yarn by surface slip stitching around the base of the crown.
Candy Corn Charm

40. Flatten the opening and sc through both layers to close. FO. Add a small jump ring or strong yarn loop at the top.
Top Hanging Loop
41. With black or matching yarn, ch 24 and sl st to the first ch to form a loop.
42. Wrap the join around the top of the hat and stitch securely. If using a lobster clasp or key ring, attach it now.
Assembly
43. Sew the witch hat to the top end of the spiral. Pass through several stitches of both pieces so the hat remains centered when hanging.
44. Sew or tie the candy-corn charm to the lower end using a short 2-3 cm connector cord or a small jump ring.
45. If using black beads, place them only after the spiral is fully shaped so they sit on the visible front ridge.
46. Attach the top loop or clasp through the center of the hat. Test the hanger vertically and rotate the spiral until the coils look even.
47. Make additional hangers in alternating orange and purple for the five-piece look shown in the inspiration image.
Finishing and Blocking
48. Weave all yarn ends securely into the thickest part of the crochet.
49. Use light steam from at least 10-15 cm away if the coil needs help holding its shape. Do not press acrylic yarn directly with an iron.
50. Allow the spiral to hang overnight before final bead placement; gravity often improves the curl.
51. If the decoration will be used around young children or pets, omit small beads and metal charms.
Optional Variations
• Use lime green with a black hat for a witchy neon version.
• Replace the candy-corn charm with a small pumpkin, bat or ghost.
• Work 4 hdc in each foundation chain for an extra-tight spiral.
• Use cotton thread and a smaller hook for miniature keychain versions
