Materials

Round 4. Work 1 single crochet stitch in every stitch.
Round 5. Work 2 single crochet stitches then make an increase. Repeat around. You will have 24 stitches.
Round 6. Work 1 single crochet stitch in every stitch.
Round 7. Work 3 single crochet stitches then make an increase. Repeat around. You will have 30 stitches.
To make the first branch layer work a small shell in every fourth stitch. For each shell work 1 single crochet then 1 half double crochet then 4 double crochet stitches then 1 half double crochet then 1 single crochet.
Make a second branch layer below the first one. Use slightly larger shells with 5 double crochet stitches in the center.
Make one more lower branch layer with 6 or 7 double crochet stitches in the center. This gives the tree the full layered shape seen in the photo.
How To Make The Red Star
Use red yarn. Make a magic ring and work 10 single crochet stitches inside.
For each star point chain 5. Slip stitch in the second chain from the hook. Work 1 single crochet in the next chain. Work 1 half double crochet in the next chain. Work 1 double crochet in the last chain. Slip stitch into the next stitch of the center ring.
Repeat until you have 5 points. Fasten off. Sew one small gold bead in the center if you like. Sew the star firmly to the top of the tree.
How To Make The Small Candy Canes
Make several small candy canes with red and white yarn. Chain 12 with white yarn. Work 1 single crochet in each chain. Fasten off.
Join red yarn at one end. Work small surface slip stitches across the white strip. Space the red stitches so the strip looks striped.

How To Decorate The Tree
