Construction
Crochet a firm round head in continuous rounds and lightly stuff it.
Work a small fitted bodice beneath the head, then form puff sleeves and simple arms.
Build the skirt in widening rounds. Add several overlapping scalloped layers to create the tree-like dress shown in the photo.
Crochet two openwork wings and attach them symmetrically to the back.
Add yarn hair around the head and decorate it with tiny crocheted roses, leaves and pearl-style beads.
Embroider closed eyes, a small smile and rosy cheeks.
Finish the dress with contrasting cream edging and pearl accents, then add a hanging loop at the top.
Finishing
Secure all joins carefully, weave in loose ends, shape the piece by hand, and block lightly where appropriate. Keep hanging ornaments balanced so they sit straight when suspended.
