Rainbow Swirl Flower Crochet Table Runner

Materials

Use DK cotton in red orange yellow green blue purple cream and olive green.

Use a 3.0 mm to 3.5 mm crochet hook.

You will also need a yarn needle scissors blocking pins and optional small pom pom yarn for the edge.

Stitch Abbreviations

MR = magic ring

ch = chain

sl st = slip stitch

sc = single crochet

hdc = half double crochet

dc = double crochet

tr = treble crochet

inc = 2 stitches in the same stitch

dec = crochet 2 stitches together

BLO = back loop only

sp = space

rep = repeat

Rainbow Circle Make 8 to 10

Round 1. With the first color make MR and work 12 dc.

Round 2. Work 2 dc in each stitch.

Round 3. Change color. Work 1 dc then inc around.

Round 4. Change color. Work 2 dc then inc around.

Round 5. Change color. Work 3 dc then inc around.

Round 6. Change color. Work 4 dc then inc around.

Round 7. Work one sc round in the final color.

Cream Openwork Half Circle Make 8 to 10

Ch 4 and join to ring.

Row 1. Work 8 dc into ring. Turn.

Row 2. Ch 3. Work 2 dc in each stitch. Turn.

Row 3. Ch 4 skip 1 dc in next stitch. Rep across.

Row 4. In each ch sp work 3 dc with ch 1 between groups.

Row 5. Work sc around the curved edge and leave the straight edge open for joining.

Raised Rainbow Flower Make 4

Center. With brown make MR and work 12 sc.

Round 2. Work 2 sc in each stitch.

Petals. Make 8 petals. Use a different rainbow color for each petal. For each petal ch 8 and work sc hdc dc 3 tr dc hdc back to center.

Add a cream sc outline around every petal if you want stronger separation.

Leaf Make 20

Ch 11 with olive green.

Work sc hdc dc 3 tr dc hdc sc along one side.

Work 3 sc at tip and repeat on the second side.

Surface sl st along the center vein.

Bobble Edge

Join cream yarn around the outside of the assembled runner.

Work sc evenly around.

For each bobble work 5 dc together in one stitch then sc in next 2 stitches.

Repeat around the outer curves only.

Assembly

Alternate one rainbow circle with one cream openwork half circle to create flowing S shaped sections.

Overlap neighboring sections slightly and sew them together.

Place one raised rainbow flower at every second join.

Arrange green leaves beneath each flower.

Work the cream bobble edge around the outside and block the runner flat.

Finishing

Weave in all yarn ends carefully.

Lightly wet block the runner and shape every motif while damp.

Pin flowers and leaves so they dry flat and keep their shape.

Let the piece dry completely before placing it on the table.
