Method

Crochet each motif as a small stuffed amigurumi or flat double-layer piece, then suspend the motifs from a covered ring at varied lengths.

Formation / Construction Plan

Make moon, 4–5 stars, 3 clouds and 1 small planet.

Cover or wrap the wooden ring.

Create 4–5 suspension cords of different lengths.

Balance the heavier moon in the center.

Add beads and small charms between motifs.

Full Pattern

Pattern note: This is an original approximation developed from the visible design language of the reference image. Gauge and yarn choice can change the finished proportions, so compare your work to the listed size and adjust as needed.

Crescent Moon: Make 2 flat crescents. Ch 24. Starting 2nd ch: sc 3, hdc 4, dc 8, hdc 4, sc 3. Turn and work along opposite side. Repeat a second panel. Join panels with sc, stuffing lightly before closing.

Nightcap: MR 6. Increase to 18 sts over 3 rounds. Work 5 rounds even, then decrease 1 st every 2 rounds to 6 sts. Stuff lightly, bend tip and sew to moon.

Star (make 4–5): MR, [ch 5, sl st 2nd ch, sc, hdc, dc, sl st in ring] x5. Make two layers for puffy stars if desired.

Cloud: MR 6. Increase to 18 sts. Work 4 rounds. Make 2 smaller puff balls with 12 sts each. Sew the three balls together, adding a small flat base strip beneath.

Planet: MR 6, increase to 24, work 3 rounds, decrease and stuff. Ring: ch 28, sl st back along chain. Wrap around planet and sew in place.

Ring Wrap: Sc around wooden ring until fully covered, or wrap tightly with cream yarn and secure every few centimeters.

Assembly and Finishing

Tie four equal support cords to the wooden ring and join them at one top loop so the ring hangs level.

Suspend the moon from the center using the shortest inner cord.

Place clouds on opposite sides to balance weight.

Hang stars and planet from remaining cords, adding beads between pieces.

Keep all knots doubled and hidden inside or above motifs.

If used in a nursery, hang well out of reach of children and away from a crib or sleep space.

Adjustment Notes

Use light stuffing so the mobile stays balanced. Test the ring after each new strand rather than attaching everything at once.
